Axl Rose Is Fashionable
Guns n’ Roses (errrr…the “current” version) rocked the old CBGB in NYC last night as part of Fashion Week. Yeah, I was just thinking that Fashion Week was the perfect platform for a surprise GnR gig… huh? I guess you could say that Axl Rose popularized some fashion trends in his day… the beloved braids and cornrows… Oh, wait, that was Bo Derek, but you gotta admit Axl made it cool for guys. Then, there’s the do-rag. Certainly, alot of motorcycle dudes have Axl to thank for that. And, it was Axl who rocked the flannel shirt before Kurt Cobain and the grunge crew did. And, as Philly knows all too well, Axl’s biggest fashion statement of all? To be fashionably late. So, yes, Axl you are fashionable.
(Click the little red MORE button to the lower right for last night’s GnR setlist and show details plus info on another possible surprise show)
Still, even though I like to poke fun at Axl, I’d have loved to have been there last night for the 17-song set that included “You’re Crazy”, “Mr Brownstone”, “I Used To Love Her”, ”Welcome To The Jungle”, ”Patience”, and an encore of “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, “This Is Love”, and “Night Train”. Rumor has it that there may be another “surprise” GnR show on tap for the intimate Rose Bar in New York…

Axl always was a fashion icon. Shame he turns up four hours late for the gig these days!
