Pink Floyd Goes Postal

Filed Under:

pinkfloyddivisionbellstamp Pink Floyd Goes PostalThe British Royal Mail is issuing a Pink Floyd stamp on March 6th that will feature the cover of the band’s final studio album The Division Bell. It also just happens to be Pink Floyd guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour’s birthday.

The Head of Special Stamps for the British Royal Mail said it’s the first time they’ve actually worked with a major rock band to produce a product of this kind, stating that “Pink Floyd has a huge fan base around the world and the souvenir stamp sheet is for them and music fans in general.”

Besides featuring The Division Bell stamps, the stamp sheet design mimics a 7″ album cover and includes the lyrics of “High Hopes” – the final song on Pink Floyd’s final studio album.

My only question is – Why would the British Royal Mail choose to honor Pink Floyd with a stamp of an album that does not include Roger Waters?  Furthermore, wouldn’t Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon be considered their most famous album cover?

The British Royal Mail is issuing ten stamps featuring ten iconic album covers throughout the year.  Click MORE for the full list of all ten.

Does anyone know where or how I could get this Pink Floyd stamp? Is it available in the USA?
