The last time Kurt Coleman picked up a fumble before Thursday night he tripped over his own feet trying to run with the ball. The Eagles’ seventh-round draft pick was then a junior at Northmont High School, in Clayton, Ohio, looking to make a name for himself. He did at Northmont, grabbing the attention of Ohio State coaches. He may have helped himself even more Thursday night–and this time, he didn’t trip over his own feet trying to get where he had to go.

More On Coleman And His Chances

It was what you might have expected.  A lot of people.  A lot of backup people on both sides.  Some plays very very good, others sloppy, incompletions.  Young quarterback Mike Kafka struggled, Michael Vick has some very good moments and again some missed opportunities.  But, The Eagles come out of the preseason healthy, and that is the most important thing of all as they get set to open the season a week from Sunday against The Green Bay Packers.

It’s that time of year, prediction time.

How many games will the Eagles win? Will they make the playoffs? Who is going to surprise you? Where will the problems be, and where will they be great?

Joseph Santoliquito from 610WIP.COM and I answer all of those questions and more  on the podcast today.

Game action tonight!  Preseason game number four where the starters are generally kept out of harm’s way.  I still enjoy watching the young players battle for roster spots.  Believe me, there are still several jobs that can be won or lost tonight when the Eagles host The New York Jets.

In a little over a week the Philadelphia Eagles will take the field to kick off their 2010 regular season, and we want YOU to be there.  But not only for that game, for every home game this season.  Next Thursday night at Dave & Busters on Delaware Avenue we’re giving one lucky winner a pair of tickets to one game this season and an even luckier winner tickets to every single home game this season.

Wait, but how do I win?

Figuring out an NFL team’s record can be a very scientific process. You can use calculations, computer programs, scouting videos and talk to NFL insiders.

Or you can sit down with the schedule in front of you, and just decide which ones you think they’ll lose, and which ones you think they’ll win.

Chances are you’ll come up with the same result, so naturally we chose the latter.

On the Ready, Set, Go podcast today, Chris Johnson, Lee Russakoff and I go through the Eagles schedule and pick the W’s and L’s. Watch out, Lee’s got a plan, and he’s going to take your heart for a ride.

Jamal Jackson has been telling me all summer that he expects to be ready for the opener.  At first it seemed like an overly optimistic wish from a guy who loves to play, but now it seems more and more possible.  The biggest advantage in having a healthy Jackson back isn’t even physical, it’s his ability to make the right line call.  That is major.

This is a short week.  Today’s practice is light with a game coming Thursday night at home against The Jets.  I realize that The Eagles offense has been struggling, but taking what you see in August too seriously is a big mistake.  The thing I care most about after Friday night were injuries and fortunately none of them were serious.
